Pre-Professional Training Program

SLK Ballet School's Pre-Professional Training Program provides students ages 12+ of all levels with both a supportive environment and rigorous ballet training under Artistic Director Sara Knight and her world-class faculty.

Students are given a comprehensive education in ballet and dance, with classes including classical ballet, pointe and variations, repertoire, partnering, character, contemporary, jazz, floor barre, pilates, stretch, yoga, and more. Classes are held every weekday after-school, but each student's schedule and tuition are customized to best fit their needs. Supplementary private classes are also available.

SLK creates many opportunities for students to perform both classical repertoire and new choreography created by Sara Knight and the faculty. SLK students may also be asked to join performances of the School's official company, Chevalier Ballet, giving students the experience of being in professional productions. Previous Chevalier performances that have featured SLK students include Chopiniana (Les Sylphides), Giselle, and the world premiere of Sara Knight's New York Stories, created with the John Baer Archive.

SLK also has ongoing exchange programs with other prestigious ballet schools worldwide, allowing advanced students to experience new instruction, knowledge, and communities which are incredibly beneficial for their development as dancers.

Beyond technical excellence, SLK is deeply committed to community outreach. To fulfill this part of our mission, the School creates opportunities for students to bring dance to places such as schools and hospitals that might otherwise not have access to such resources. SLK often collaborates with Chevalier Ballet in this effort, in order to create an even greater impact.
