A Dancer's Christmas

A Dancer's Christmas is a holiday tradition with 40 years of history. Created by Robert VerEecke S.J. and members of the Boston Liturgical Dance Ensemble, A Dancer's Christmas was first performed at the Boston College Robsham Theater in 1984. It was consistently praised by the Boston media as a "celebration of the true meaning of Christmas," and it quickly became a Christmas tradition first in Boston, and then in New York City. Over the years A Dancer's Christmas has created an incredible community of dancers, musicians, and audience members, and come to define Christmas for generations of families.

SLK students, along with members of the affiliated Chevalier Ballet Company, are honored to be a part of this beautiful tradition. Every year, we welcome additional dancers, especially young children, in order to put on the full production. The 2024 shows will be on December 14 and 15, at Ailey Citigroup Theater, with an in-theater dress rehearsal on Friday December 13th. There will be an open audition on October 11 at 4pm, at SLK's studios. Extra rehearsals are generally held on Fridays in the lead-up to the performances, but the rehearsal schedule is extremely flexible. If you are interested in participating in A Dancer's Christmas 2024, please reach out to info@slkballetschool.com with your age and dance experience (if applicable) for more details.
